Motorsport meets Clarkson’s Farm

The life of a rally driver can mean many things but the arrival of some sustained summer sunshine tends to lead me to just one place – into the fields for harvesting, writes ROBBIE WOOD.

I love farming and the family farm in the beautiful Scottish Borders is a great place to be to get away from the pressures of analysing the last rally and preparing the car for the next one. It is certainly no breeze and as anyone who knows farms – or has watched Clarkson’s Farm – will know, harvesting waits for no man.

In all honesty, I would dearly love to spend every waking hour in my rally car, but my team will be glad that is not possible and so this week it’s been a case of motorsport meets CLAAS combining – a bit like Oscar Piastri and Clarksons Farm for those who watched the recent series, only Oscar would struggle to get a job on any farm until he brushes up on his trailer reversing skills!

Many thanks to Rob Gray Photographer for stopping by and providing evidence for the boss that I do actually work, and his pictures superbly capture the harvesting that is common across farms the length and breadth of the country right now.
With the sheds filled for another year, it will shortly be time for Stephen and I to start planning our return to the Voly Group Grampian Forest Rally and the Asset Alliance Group Scottish Rally Championship and British Rally Championship – see you all in Aberdeenshire on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August.
